Starting in August 2021, I am a PhD candidate in the field of Norwegian as a second language. In my proposed study, I will be investigating the emerging vocabulary of low-educated adult immigrants in their first year of learning Norwegian. My PhD is part of the larger research project Adult Acquisition of Norwegian as a second language (ALAN). The project manager of ALAN, Prof. Ann-Kristin Helland Gujord, is also my main supervisor, along with second supervisor Assoc. Prof. Bård Uri Jensen at University of Inland Norway.
From July 2022 until June 2023 I was located at Swansea University, Wales, where I was under the supervision of Prof. Tess Fitzpatrick and part of The Lexical Studies Research Group.
In the years that I am undertaking my PhD, I will be on a leave from my regular teaching position at The Norwegian Language Courses.
Since 2018 I have also been member of the research project Norsk i akademia / Norwegian in Academia (NINjA), which explores language practices and language needs among international employees in academic institutions in Norway.
