Course description
Objectives and Content
The goal is to provide an understanding of how evolution works and basic knowledge of the main issues in evolutionary biology. The course provides an introduction to evolutionary biology, including population genetics and quantitative genetics, natural selection, adaptation, sexual selection, family relationships, life history evolution, speciation, molecular evolution and phylogenetic analyzes.
Learning Outcomes
The aim of the course is to provide students with a deeper insight into the evolutionary processes - both selective and random - which can explain the genetic composition of populations, form, behaviour and distribution of organisms, and to teach students the basic methods of analysing the evolutionary relationships between species.
